The Charlotte Hornets have scheduled interviews with two candidates for their vacant head coaching job.

Per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Hornets will interview David Fizdale and Ettore Messina “in the coming days.”

Fizdale, who was fired by the Memphis Grizzlies in November after a 7-12 start, has been one of the most popular interview candidates for teams with a coaching vacancy this offseason. The 43-year-old also has meetings set up with the Phoenix Suns and New York Knicks, per Stefan Bondy of the New York Daily News

Currently an assistant coach for the San Antonio Spurs, Messina has spent the bulk of his career coaching in Europe. In 17 seasons with four different EuroLeague teams, he made the playoffs 15 times and won four championships.

The Hornets fired Steve Clifford on April 13 after he went 196-214 in five seasons with the team, including 36-46 in each of the past two seasons. They have made the postseason twice since the 2010-11 season with no playoff series wins since the 2001-02 season.
